yes, we do still exist.
Anat's album is finished. Just waiting for a release date.
Chicks On Speed stuff is coming along, and we've been remixing hot thai indie pop band Futon, it sounds amazing!
Truck festival was postponed, which made us sad. We had some good surprises planned for our live set. And there were 12 people in this year's line up...
Also appearing here will be our playlists from our shows on Oxford's FM107.9, which is on every tuesday night at 10.30pm.
We now have our own recording studio space, so if you're looking to record/ be produced.. let us know!

Hello to anybody looking!
Sorry it's been so long. Forgot to tell you what's been going on...
We did a gig at the Water Rats in Kings Cross, London a while back, with a new addition of Staz on drums. People liked it, so we said we'd do it again on June 2nd at The Windmill in Brixton, London. More details to follow...
Anat's album has been quite delayed, we had to remix / rerecord a load of stuff for it, but now it really really is 97% finished promise, so hopefully won't be long now.
We are still working with Chicks On Speed, infact we're hopping to Hamburg next week to do more and complete the older stuff!
Oli's other band Trademark have their 2nd album "Raise The Stakes" out on April 23rd on Truck Records.
In the meantime keep an eye on our myspace which we update marginally more regularly than this.
love to you all

Bit late in reporting this, but ourselves and p-c truck have landed ourselves a radio show on the newly launched Oxford's FM107.9. it's every tuesday night at (approx) 1030pm for 2 hours. On it we play brand new and quite old records, all of which are excellent, and it's all topped off with a healthy dose of nepotism.

We produced and feature on a song by MC Lars called "Internet Relationships (Are Not Real Relationships)" and it also features Piney Gir - you knew that right? Well, if you haven't yet parted with your hard earned cash for his phenomenal album "The Graduate" (which the track is on), get yourself over to his myspace page and check it out. Also you can be our friend too, then we will know how much you love us.

Plan B:
Sunday 15:47 "I BOOKED A TABLE FOR TWO!" shouts a bloke with golden locks. Someone pops up, squeaks "Why...?". Is interrupted with "BECAUSE I! LOVE! YOU!" A Scholar and A Physician. You had to be there.
The Stool Pigeon:
A Scholar and A Physician keep up the spirit of homemade fun, proffering sweetly comedic electro-indie that falls somewhere between Jeffrey Lewis and a riot in Dixons. Steve (the Physician) wields an extremely impressive Casio digital guitar. Trouble is, it's playing silly buggers. "Does anyone know what valency* is?" he asks the crowd sheepishly.
"Give him a real guitar!" someone yells.
"This is a real guitar," he retorts. "All the other ones are the not-real guitars."
"Yeah! Synth power!" cries Oli (the Scholar).
Bless 'em.
[*Just to clarify here, Steve actually said 'latency' - this is the time it takes between pressing the key (or plucking the string in this case) and then hearing the sound, which can be an issue when using electronic instrument due to processing times - Ed]

Chicks On Speed Records' "Girl Monster" 3CD compilation hit the shops the other week. Included on its tracklist is "Virtual Leisure" by Anat Ben David which we produced. We also helped out with CoS' own intro track for the album. Other artists on it include Bjork, Planningtorock, Cobra Killer, Le Tigre, Miss Pain, Peaches, Angie Reed, Client, Japanese Intelligence Mind Control and loads of other awesomely great stuff so you should definitely go out and purchase it!

Nightshift said this:
No chance of A SCHOLAR & A PHYSICIAN going country and western any time soon. What was once a simple electronic duo now boasts nine members – apparently everyone they’ve ever met – including seven keyboard players and a bloke who plays a pair of scissors and looks like he’d rather be anywhere other than on stage. “I booked a table for two because I love you!” screeches A Scholar. “What!” bellows A Physician in response. And so it goes on. In the end it’s like watching a gay couple having a violent domestic row over the top of an old Tubeway Army album. Rather good, in other words. Next year we’ll probably up there with them. And you.
The Stool Pigeon said nice things too. We'll dig that out and type it up in the near future.

Thanks to everyone who whooped and cheered, you were amazing! We had fun. If you weren't there, you missed it! I heard a rumour that there's a bit of video of it, if it surfaces somewhere I'll link it up.

These (evidently) extremely nice people wrote a thing about us. The best bit is where they describe "Stevetronic" as a kids TV tune that is more the story of dancefloor legend who gets lost in the music (and drugs) believing the dancefloor is the setting for his own sci-fi nightmare complete with lasers, white noise, bass monsters, dry-ice poison, and a biologic prison of legs and flailing arms. We also like that the picture of us in Physician's old car fits in with the general 'traffic' theme of the blog. I miss the old car. Check it out.

A Scholar and A Physician play the lovely Truck Festival this July (22/23) on the Sunday afternoon in the trailerpark tent (woo! an upgrade!). We'll be doing a whole load of stuff that will hopefully be on our own release when we eventually get round to finishing it. The festival has been sold out for ages, but if you've already got your ticket, we'll see you there!

So good they named it twice!
We've just been there recording with CoS and artist Douglas Gordon - we set up the studio in Anat's hotel room! CoS did a blinding show at the MoMA, where they previewed a load of new songs including three that they've done with us (including the forthcoming "Girl Monster Anthem") and the phenomenal "Art Rules" (produced by Christopher Just). Timothy Spall was at the show and we pointed at him. Later we got taken to a swanky penthouse party where A Scholar dropped his glass of wine in front of iceland's most famous export and got embarrassed. We hung out with our USA-dwelling chums Liz and Joe Goldrush and Claire, ate loads of burgers and got really fat. It was great!

An interview with us is in the current issue of Computer Music magazine - that's the June issue. We are on page 73. And page 74! There's some rather old pictures of us in it too!

An old track of ours, "Dangerous", is featured as the source material for an article about audio destruction in the latest issue of Computer Music (issue 100 we think). The original is on there aswell as an (deliberately!) unpleasant version. There's also an interview with V/Vm, so it's definitely worth buying. We've just done an interview for the same magazine which should hopefully be in a forthcoming issue!

We've done a new track with Gaptooth, "No Man Is An Island" which can now be heard on trusty old myspace. Also you can hear "Same Ghost Every Night" which was produced by the multi-talented Paul Soulsby out of Trademark. Bonza!
